The Rooms
Three Rooms. Three Kinds of Stay.
Each room at Teratai Haven was prepared with a different length and character of stay in mind. The descriptions below are an attempt to help you decide which one suits you.

The Logic of the Three Rooms
The three rooms at Teratai Haven occupy different positions in the shophouse and were designed for different lengths of stay. This is not arbitrary — a room suited to a three-night visit requires different furnishings, different light, and a different kind of attention from the household than a room where someone will be living for six weeks.
The Front Court Suite is at the front of the building, facing the street, with the balcony above Lebuh Pantai that most visitors to George Town will walk beneath. It is a fuller room — larger, with a sitting area and a private bathroom — and it is priced accordingly. It suits a couple or a single guest who has come for the heritage trail, a cultural event, or simply to spend a few days in a city that repays close attention.
The Air Well Room is quieter. It looks onto the courtyard rather than the street, and the cross-ventilation from the open roof above keeps it noticeably cooler during the afternoon. It is a single room, with a desk, and it is suited to a week or a fortnight of independent work or reading.
The Rear Court Room is the quietest of the three. At the back of the building, overlooking the cook's garden, it is designed for a longer stay — a researcher, a writer, or a relative of a Penang family who has come back to the city for a month or more. The all-in rate at a fortnight reflects the economics of that kind of arrangement: not a tourist rate, but something closer to a domestic one.
